If you want to know about the stars, it would be wise to ask an astronomer.

astrology and compatibility with your mate....a grain of truth???
by kid-A inlet me start off by saying i dont believe in astrology and most certainly not horoscopes.
having said that, i have often considered the real possibility that the time and season of the year we are born in can dramatically influence our pre-natal development and the resulting personality, i dont think this has anything to do with "stars" or cosmology, but we do know that babies born in certain seasons or months are more prone to certain illnesses, temperaments etc.. i'm an aries and had a really lousy relationship with a "cancer" for many years.
she always pointed out that all of the compatibility charts state that aries and cancers are fundamentally incompatible and it turned out....she was right!!

I wasn't even my choice...should it count?
by findingmyway ini can't help thinking that if i had never gotten baptized out of loyalty and fear of disappointing my parents (and fear of having my flesh eaten by birds of prey after being destroyed in armageddon), i would not be in this situation.
i have several family members and former friends who were raised as jws, but never got baptized, and they never have to experience the angst and pain that i have to experience.
i was baptized and never dedicated my life.

Why is the month of October Special to JWs
by skin inwho else has been told that the month of october is a special month because in the past jehovah has fulfilled many prophecies in that month.. we have been told this twice in the last 2 book studies.. examples are: hand writing on the wall in daniels book happened on 5/6th october 539 bce, .
jesus was born in october 2 bce,.
kingdom rule started in october 1914, but the most interesting one is that ww1 started in october of that year.has anyone else been told this?.

Welcome to the board. Nice poem. I liked the rhyming in the first and last lines. I was a little confused - I missed the connection between the title and the content, or even the relationship between the individual lines.
Anyway... how about telling us about yourself? -

This is so wrong !!!!!!!
by lola28 inmy god i can't believe what i just saw.. i was on the website for my local police dept.
and saw a link they had for a website that listed sex offenders.
i clicked on it and put in my zip code, i could not believe how many sex offenders live in my area, what is worse is that i know two of those listed and i never, ever would have thought that they could be a danger to children.. what bothers me so much is that many of these offenders commited crimes against children, i would say that a good 90% of those listed had been convicted of molesting children.how do these people live knowing what they have done?

Releasing sex offenders from jail and pretending we've solved the problem by making them register seems to be unique to the U.S.

What does the WTS have to gain?
by Low-Key Lysmith inthe one question that still burns in my mind is what does the wts possibly have to gain by keeping so many people deluded and brainwashed?
does the gb really think they are doing god's work knowing full well that they are nothing but a bunch of liars?
how can they, in good conscience, encourage people who will die without blood transfusions do so knowing full well that it's a farce?

As hard as it is to leave when you're a rank-and-file JW, how hard do you think it is for someone responsible for the ruined lives of millions of people?

Welcome to the board. Here you are among friends. Many of us differ in beliefs, which is proof enough to me that there is not "one true path".
Not going to college is something many of us regret. You may have to work hard, but you can still do it. You may even qualify for grants. Almost certainly you can get loans.
Congratulations on understanding your own sexuality better than a bunch of men who don't have sex do. If you still feel that the Bible is inspired by God, try reading the book of Ruth with a critical eye. Were Ruth and Naomi really "just friends"? :D -

Since when does a woman have the right to preside...?
by Lady Lee insince when does a woman have the right to preside over the congregation?
we all know that the wts relegates women to a secondary place within the congregation.
women would never be allowed to be on the gb even if they were anointed.

Although I didn't dare talk about it, I always found the idea of a men-run WTS being the "bride of Christ" more than a little gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
